Protect your 2-wheeler against theft
Engraving your 2-wheeler and registering it with ARGOS is an excellent deterrent against theft and resale of spare parts. Depending on your main insurance company, it may be compulsory or strongly recommended.
All 2-wheelers have a unique serial number assigned by the manufacturer.
- If you own a 2-wheeler over 50 cm3, your dealer will engrave the registration number or the last 8 characters of the serial number on 11 parts of your 2-wheeler.
- If you own a 2-wheeler under 50cm3, this is the engine number that your dealer will engrave.
Registration with ARGOS
Created on the initiative of all insurance companies, the ARGOS file (Groupement d’assureurs pour l’identification, la recherche et la récupération des véhicules volés) identifies stolen 2-wheelers and facilitates their search and repatriation by law enforcement agencies.
20 million vehicles engraved, and yours?
With investigators all over Europe, ARGOS relies on a database of 20 million vehicles, which can be consulted in real time and is directly accessible to all police and gendarmerie services.
Engraving your 2-wheeler registers it in this database for a period of 6 years.
